Inspired from Psalm 30 written by King David praising God for transforming sorrow into joy.

The open maze work outer border symbolizes man's walk through life. It is made from laminated and bent wood strips. There are no straight lines in any of the maze work due to the circular nature.

The three central panels are made from carved cherry. All of the elements are inspired by the Book of Kells.

The left panel depicts God's sovereignty over the earth. The medallion is made of crushed lapis lazuli and malachite.

The upper right panel represents the Tree of Life (a symbol of Christ) bringing man out of night into a new eternal day. The sunrise is comprised of yellowheart, boxeldar burl, purpleheart, and bubinga.

The bottom right panel represents the cosmos as seen in the passing night.

Note: This bowl will be exhibited at the American Association of Woodturners (AAW) International Symposium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA from June 25th - 28th 2015.
